COMMUNICATION THEORY – SENDER, CHANNEL, RECEIVER

Communications theory was beneficial for myself when studying this certain topic. The nature of communication can be sometimes construed different. Each client is different, their knowledge and understanding of certain meanings is not the same. Communication theory is the sender, the channel and the receiver by selecting the most effective and suitable non-verbal and verbal network for the patient. It can be more beneficial for the client in understanding the practitioner and the practitioner can meet the needs of the client (Bylund, Peterson and Cameron 2012). A wide variety of reasons are why a disruption between the sender, channel and receiver can take place. Within the therapeutic recreation officers sphere, the practitioner can be dealing with a client that might be an elderly individual. Within saying this the use of jargon might not be easy for them to understand, as well as noise might play a part on how they gather the information, another example might be the tone of your voice. Within communications theory it has taught me a thorough understanding on how crucial it is to understand your client when it comes to communications theory to understand each other and to get positive outcomes for them.
